Mabel’s first night in a hotel. It wasn’t as painful as we thought it might be. Well, it was for a bit, and having to watch England play a World Cup game in near enough silence was tricky, so we didn’t wake her, but we all survived until morning!

This could get messy…
Some did go in her mouth. Honest!

We had an extra day to pop over to Belper to have lunch with Felix and Betsy. Betsy’s smiles are as hard to capture as Mabel’s! But Felix makes up for it with his 1000 mile an hour grins.

Mabel and I made a trip northwards without Mark, as he was working, to celebrate Uncle James’ 40th birthday and cousin Betsy’s first birthday.
A cure for hay fever. Apparently.
Numbers one and four.
The birthday girl.
Lols entertaining Mabel in Betsy’s truck.
Betsy reclaims her truck.
Cake time!
We did the (now) traditional picture of all the cousins before we left. With hindsight we should have tried for it as soon as we arrived. By this point tiredness (and nakedness!) was setting in. I didn’t even manage one with them all looking at the camera. Hey ho!

Eating pictures may become quite common over the coming weeks. Today we went with asparagus. Might as well get in there whilst it’s still in season.

So, we are almost at six months. I couldn’t wait those extra couple of days to begin trying real food out on Mabel. We have decided to go down the Baby Led Weaning (BLW) route, as it seems to fit in with how we think. So there will be no pureeing here, we are going straight in with the big guns! Read all about it here.
Her first fodder to sample was sweet potato and avocado, and I am pleased to say it was a success! A slightly messy success, but that was expected.
Ready and raring to go
In with the sweet potato…
Hmm, not to sure about this…
Now for some avocado…
Actually, I quite like them. As long as I don’t have to clear up!

Mabel having a chuckle. A prize for anyone that can guess what Jess is doing to prompt this reaction.

What are Sundays for, aside from staying in your jim jam’s and reading a book?
Oh, and practicing sitting up all by your little self.
She fell over! Yes, the sitting needs a little more practice.
Are you ready for your close up?
